The Drive Magazine Cover was created from a still shot of a Buick Envista on a display stage at the 2024 Toronto Auto Show.
Drive Magazine is a fictitious publication focussing on modern vehicles and review based content.
The main objective was to create a custom collection of visually appealing assets and compile them into a realistic and professionally styled magazine. The total project included three custom Ad’s, two article spreads and an editorial piece. This project was required to be completed at 8×10” 2 page spreads, in full colour at 300 DPI resolution.
Researching the appropriate style of magazine for the genre was essential for the success of this project. In doing so, I chose to use fonts, colours and layouts that draw the viewer into each segment of the articles and flow into each other seamlessly by use of similar elements and spacing throughout. My research found that in vehicle publications a common theme was excitement and boldness with subtle hints of modernism. To uphold the style of the genre, I chose a set of bold fonts with clean lines, exciting and appealing graphics and allowed for extra negative space for a more modern feel.

Each page in this magazine was created to be completely custom. The images are all original from the 2024 Toronto Auto Show and placed on top of stock backgrounds. Additionally, the typographic layouts were created to capture attention and build interest in the contents. Research showed that bold and exciting typography would be consistent with the magazine content. Modern image layouts were also used throughout to serve as both a functional and visually appealing component.

This ad was compiled using multiple shots of the same watch. The main watch face was cropped in after undergoing some colour and clarity correction. The band was added in separately to maintain a straight angle.
The main image was adjusted with a gradient and noise. Blended text added to the left anchors the graphic to the other information.
